The other "Brunson" poker hand

I know most everyone that plays poker knows that 10-2 is known as the "Dolly" , “Doyle Brunson” or "The Brunson." There is another hand that is also known as the Doyle Brunson mainly because he never plays this hand. And that hand is A-Q .

Doyle Brunson makes it clear that the hand is nothing but trouble in his books . Personally I have never had too much problems with playing the hand myself...I just ALWAYS raise 4 to 6x the BB to try and get rid of the trash hands before the flop. If anyone calls me then I know I'm up against a strong hand .

Well...at last Saturday's private freeroll that we held at Carbon Poker I found out the hard way the dangers of playing A-Q . I must have gotten dealt that hand pre-flop five times, and I lost with each and every one of them ! Each time I was called and the flop would be no help at all. I might would take a stab at the pot only to get raised...... Now a lot of that might have been due to me putting a bounty on my head....some folk will take just a bit more of a gamble to knock the bounty out for that added money. 

After just having a terrible time with the hand , I was finally down to being the short stack at the table when I'm dealt the A-Q yet again . By this time I've only got about 10x the bb left, so I push allin from mid position .  I get one caller and all else fold. "YellowRose" shows "the hooks" and those poket jacks take me out of the game......("Ramster" later said he folded A-Q due to the call by YellowRose)

After that game I just may stop playing all the "Brunson" hands now.  (grins) . Anyhow, we had a good game and my buddy Chris from over at "Chip In - Life & Poker in Japan" took the game down with YellowRose taking second and the bounty on my head.
