Poker League Champ
Hello folk, I thought I'd just come here today and jaw a little bit about the weekend games. Saturday was the end of our 24 week poker league we held at Timeless Poker . We never did get a large player base, ten players total, but we sure had some good poker none the less. As the season was winding down it was looking more and more like it was going to be between the father and son, Maron1 and ShushiKId, and myself . And that was with those two missing two of the games !
When Saturdays game time arrived I had only a six point lead, with ShushiKid slightly ahead of his dad Maron1 . There really was not much chance of me losing the lead in the final game unless we had an unexpected large turnout, but I wanted to end this on a high note and cover those points for the two game advantage I had due to them missing two games. When all was said and done, I did just that. ShushiKid had what some would call a bad beat when he pushed with A-J and got called by CrzyCanadian with K-Q, only to sit and watch the board make the ace high straight for CrzyCanadian. SushiKid was out in sixth place.
Later in the game, when it came down to just three of us players left it was CrzyCanadian that knocked out Maron1 as well...that left he and I to bump heads for the win. After a pretty good little battle I was able to finally get the chip lead and then knock out the CrzyCanadian to take down the win and claim the title of Poker League Champ once again ! That's the second time, back to back, I've saved myself from sending out a prize to the Champ. :-)
While I'm here I just want to mention that the Sunday Poker Series I'm hosting at PDC poker is underway now. These games are small buy-ins and have a $5 bounty on my head. Yesterdays game was 5 Card Draw, and only four players made the felt, but what a game it turned out to be.
The final two ended up between Hacksaw200 and myself. Hacksaw200 is known as the CrzyCanadian at Timeless, so I just knew this could turn out to be a right interesting heads up match. It turns out it was , the chip lead just kept changing back and forth . Hacksaw made the comment about 30 minutes into our heads up play that it was turning into a chess match. I had to agree with that statement totally....I was finally able to get a big chip lead after pulling out a big bluff on him by not drawing any cards. I showed him the bluff hoping to try and set the trap later in the game. About forty-five minutes into the heads up I drew the hand I needed to do just that. I drew to my flush, and raised just enough to try and make him think I was trying to steal the pot again...it worked and he pushed with two pair and I took the game down and saved the bounty on my head.
Todays the wife and I's 28th wedding anniversery, so I don't think I'll be playing any poker tonight. ;-)
